The trendiest suburbs of Sydney are becoming the hot spots for the vermin.
Hot spots for pests
From the data gathered exclusively by hipages, an online contractors’ website, for The Sunday Telegraph, it is known that the hot spots in New South Wales, Australia for the pests and creepy crawlies are the high-end suburbs, which top the list.
Additionally, based from this data, New South Wales is also the country’s current capital for these pest invasions.
Although Redfern has gone through gentrification in the past years, with the average houses increasing 66.3% to $1.39 million, this does not affect the bed bugs.
It is in the top spot for the bed bugs, and it is followed by the other trendy areas of Pyrmont on 2nd, Darlinghurst on 3rd, Cogee on 4th, Bondi on 5th and Surry Hills on 6th.
The super-rich in Sydney are also not exempted from these pests, with Mosman that has a $3.2 million median house price being the top 2 famous suburb for the rodent infestations.
Penrith is on the top spot for rat infestations. This list is rounded out by Blacktown on 3rd, Kellyville on 4th and finally Leichhardt.
In terms of cockroach infestations, the one that tops this list is Parramatta. Surry Hills is on the 2nd place, followed by Bankstown, Blacktown and finally Auburn.
For flea infestations, Quakers Hill, which is located 40 kilometres west from Sydney, tops the list. It is followed by the area of St Marys on 2nd, Lake Heights on 3rd, Baulkham Hills on 4th and Hurstville on 5th.
No surprise with the numbers
According to Killmore Pest Management’s director Reuben Valencia, this is not a surprise to him that the inner city hubs are facing these pest infestations.
He mentioned that the apartment buildings are usually at the mercy of these infestations, and 80% of his clients are from rental properties.
He also said that there are a lot of cases where high-end homes are overrun by the vermin.
